The little guy was rescued in the playground by 2 girls at the high school I work at. Apperently he was just sitting on the ground outside the woodwork rooms, looking stunned and vulnerable. I say we've 'temporarily' adopted him, as I hope to release him back to the wild as soon as I can - he's a wild little 'boid' after all!
He's pretty young, but he can fly - just not very well. I think maybe Mum's booted him outta the nest and he's hit the ground and been stunned. The girls said mumma was nowhere to be seen, but in a playground full of rowdy teenagers, I guess she got outta there.
He eats ravenously from my fingers now, and likes banana, strawberries, little pieces of tinned peaches and weetbix mixed with a bit of warm water and any kind of mished-up fruit.
A few more flying lessons and a good feed and he'll be ok to go back to the school area i think.
