A new all-time low.

I was getting ready to go out to one of Ben's work functions tonight, and NOTHING I OWN fits me anymore. Not even things I bought 6 months ago. Not even my super-big baggy boxer shorts. What the FUCK is wrong with me???

I have had a really bad fright tonight. I cant believe I have put on 10kg in 2 years. And it all seems to be around my middle. It hangs like a slab down my friont, I actually have one of those "beer-guts" that you have to decide whether the waist-band of your pants is gonna sit over or under. This is REALLY freaking me out! How did this happen so fast???

I dont know what to do - Over the last few months I have doine weight watchers, tracked every kilojoule I ate on The Biggest Loser Online, and trained and run a 14 km run - and yet I have PUT ON so much weight!!! What is wrong with me? Am I dying? Do I have a stomach tumour? Am I going to be one of those horrible "medical emergency" shows where they need a crane to lift the fat person out of the house because they haven't been able to get out of bed in years....

If I keep putting on weight like this, when I'm 40 I will weigh 160kg! What am I gonna do??? What's wrong with me? Am i just a freak person who cant eat food? Maybe I should become one of those "Breatharians" who dont eat anything but air. Maybe THEN my weight will stabilise. What am I going to do? i am out of ideas.

I thought when you came off the pill you were meant to lose weight. Ditto - the side effects of Effexor are usually WEIGHT LOSS. Ok call Dr Phil. Here I am medical students - the only person who can continue to gain weight despite all the odds. They need to take samples of my DNA and send it to Anorexia Hospitals and third world countries. I need to be locked in a small dark room and experimented on.

What has worked for me.
- a program called dietpower where you log your weight and calories daily. (there are free/cracked versions about)
- get into a routine for the first half of the day so that you cut you calories automatically. (it helps if younareva creature of habit)

For me it was-
Breakfast - toast x 2 vegemite no butter
10am - can of diet coke
Lunch - something light eg fruit x 2 or soup in winter
2pm - can of diet coke

If you then eat a really early dinner (not too large but the biggest meal of the day) then you also cut out the afternoon snacking. Basically try to limit yourself to 1200-1400 calories and exercise for about an hour twice a week then the 10kg would cone off in a few months.

Once you start then initial results will encourage you to keep going.
