So, R rushes in this morning from his 'cave' (aka his office) announcing with excitment that Nintendo are bringing out a new game for the Wii - Star Wars. Now, for the uninitiated, Wii is that gaming console that you use the controller kinda like nunchucks. You dont just press the buttons - if your character in the game has a sword for example, you swing the controller round like a sword.
Apparently now, you can use your Wii-mote as a light saber and play Star Wars.
Great.
Ok, so I see the way Nintendo is thinking - they're tapping in to all those Star Wars nuts who haven't yet discovered Wii. Ok. But here's the thing; I've been giving this some thought and I think Nintendo have yet to tap into another HUGE market of Wii buyers - women.
What if, Wii remotes could emulate the skills that we've been trying to get our men to do for eternity??? Nintendo CEO's - LISTEN UP! I'm onto something here!
- What about a game where the aim is to pee INTO the toilet bowl, without getting the floor? (You could earn bonus points for remembering to put the seat down!)
- How about a simulated 'get-your-clothes-into-the-dirty-clothes-basket' drill?
- A game which involves getting the nappy/diaper onto the wringling toddler? (You could call it Wii-wees)
- Or how about a driving game that actually involves *gasp* staying under the speed limit and getting your passengers safely to their destination without them fearing for their lives? (Bonus points if you ask for directions)
ok, so they guys might not be huge fans of these - but hey, I dont know a woman alive who wouldn't line up outside their local game store for 2 days to ensure one of these babies would be added to their gamer-guy's Wii collection.
(Just dont expect them to flush)

LOL! I think having a Wii would be pretty cool. Unfortunately my DH thinks the concept of standing and gaming is dumb! I think it's great...talk about being able to multitask and get a little exercise. Coming out with a Star Wars game is an awesome idea! I could see our oldest boy wanting a Wii if he can swing those controllers around like a saber. Heck...he does that with Harry Potter wands...LOL!
