Novels worth reading.

Having just written that last entry, I feel compelled to direct you guys to some GOOD adult books of the Horse-related-persuasion, so that you can find and alternative book to read! So! Here's a list of adult horsey books that are definitly worth a read!

1) The Jinny Series by Patricia Leitch - yes; I know. These aren't technically adult fiction, but they are so beautifully written, with amazing imagery and spiritualism. They're timeless, ageless, and a must-read for anyone who truly loves horses.
2) Riders - By Jilly Cooper. (Also 'Polo' by the same) - These are brilliant. VERY horsey. Characters we can all relate to, a few naughty bits, and twists and turns a plenty. You find them hard to put down!

3) National Velvet - Enid Bagnold. An absolute classic.
4) Free Rein - Gill Rolton. An inspiring story of an olympic rider. A true story of a woman who overcame adversity again and again to win olympic equestrian gold. Very inspiring.
5) Horseplay - Judy Reene Singer. So FUNNY. What a funny lady she must be! You will laugh out loud in places.

6) The Horse Whisperer - Nicolas Evans. Completely different to the movie with Scarlett Johannesson and Robert Redford, but I think it's better! A good read.
7) The Silver Brumby series - Elyne Mitchell. Okay, okay; again teachnically a kids book, but beware Australian ex-pats - they will make you homesick for the Aussie bushland!
8) The Stockman - Rachael Treasure. (and 'Jillaroo' by the same). These are brilliant! Strong Aussie women characters, and lots of horses!
9) The Call of the High Country - Tony Parsons. Life in the Aussie highlands. Loved it.
10) Anything by Dick Francis, or John Francome. Horsey thrillers and crime novels - And there's lots of 'em! :)
